Storage Containers – creating Instant additional storage facilities

Definition

A storage container is constructed of cold steel and has generally been manufactured in the UK and is mostly used for storage of equipment on construction sites.

Applications

Storage containers can be used as archive stores, chemical storage, machinery storage, military equipment, household goods and by sports clubs and schools.

Specification for steel stores:

General

Welded HR4 grade steel construction comprising 100 mm x 50 mm rolled steel channel framework with 1.6 mm corrugated roof and sides, twist-lock plates to top and bottom, with lifting points incorporated into top casting blocks, for ease of stacking and transportation. Fork lift tunnels in base frame fitted as standard for units up to and including 24’ long.

Base Frame

Rolled steel channel floor bearers 76mm x 38mm at approximately 400 mm centres supporting a 15mm 7-ply floor which lies flush with the side and end rails providing a serviceable smooth floor area with the fork tunnels giving additional support.

Doors

Double 90 degree opening doors with 2mm thick pressed steel reinforced panel featuring the newly developed concealed hinges with Oilite bushes and the patented Indorlock, locking system. The position of the hinges on the doors allows forthe side of the door to fully interlock behind the corner pillar for its full height for extra security. There is also a unique internal cam bar locking action for ease of closing. The left hand door has shoot bolts top and bottom and the right hand door has a door retainer. Damaged doors can be quickly and easily changed without the use of welding or cutting gear. The Indorlock locking system has a secondary locking staple for a padlock, is very user friendly and incorporates a five lever lock with three keys.

Side and End Walls

Fabricated from 1.6 mm thick steel, the panels are fully welded to floor and roof rails.

Roof

Fabricated from 1.6 mm thick steel and automatically seam welded for strength and quality. Deep drawn closed end profiles as used on Lloyds approved shipping containers giving a strong roof which has been tested with 200kg weights with returnable deflection.

Finish

Units are thoroughly cleaned and degreased and painted with a pigmented modified alkyd paint system. Painted externally in one colour of choice and internally light grey. Other specifications are available on request.

Ventilation

Can be provided if required.
